Chocolate Tahini Smoothie

When it comes to food and knowing what you put into your body can get a bit confusing I get it, I too was right there with you. The thing is not every two people are alike and same thing goes with fat.

Ya see, we should not be scared of fat, the essential fats that is. So I’m going to break it down for you and share a recipe that is easy, delicious and gives you the right amount to keep you feeling great.

Let’s go.

Fun facts:

  • Our brain is 60% fat

  • Essential fatty acids help reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, allergies, depression, fatigue eczema, PMS and infections

  • Flax oil is richest in Omega 3’s

Saturated fats:

  • These are you unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats

  • Stored fat in the body, leads to weight gain

  • Can be used for energy but it is not essential for optimum health and is only used only once we use all other stores which I why it sometimes just keeps packing on

  • Leads to build up of plaque causing cardiovascular and other

  • Processed saturated fat is turned into trans fats, which our body cannot use for anything and is harmful, usually found in processed foods.

Essential Fatty acids (AKA you need it in your life for optimal health)

  • These are our Omega 3’s & 6’s

  • Essential for our brain, immune system cardiovascular system, skin and nervous system

  • Aid in weight management

  • Energy, energy and more energy

  • Long beautiful hair and nails, sign me up!

 

Where to get your EFA’s (essential fatty acids)

  • hemp

  • flax

  • walnuts

  • sunflower seeds

  • almonds

  • seasome seeds

  • seaweed

I always add a tablespoon of cold pressed oil such as coconut oil along with seeds to ensure that I am getting a healthy dose of EFA’s!

Chocolate Tahini Smoothie

Serves: 1

2 tbsp pumpkin seeds 1 tbsp coconut oil 1 tbsp chia seeds 2 cups water 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp turmeric 1 cup spinach ½ cup kale

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1 cup spinach

  • ½ cup kale

Instructions

  1. Put water, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon and turmeric in blender first to make milk

  2. Add all other ingredients and blend until smooth

  3. Enjoy!
