Mind, Body + Soul Detox

With the new year approaching there is no better way to get your body ready then to do a detox. Below you will 5 ways to detox your mind, body, and soul to get ready for the new beautiful year!

Here is the deal-we live in a world where we are constantly surrounded by toxins. Now, I don’t want to freak you out about this because there are some things that you can do to ensure that you clear away any toxins that have built up.

First, let’s discuss what toxins are, toxins are anything that are harmful to the body and effects the bodies normal functioning. There are two types of toxins. First, we have internal toxins, our bodies produce toxins internally however we have also have a sophisticated system that supports us to expel these toxins as well. So, you may be asking yourself, well why do I need to detox if my body has its own system. You see what happens is due to stress in the form of both physical and mental some of these systems can get run down and stop functioning.

The second type of toxins are external. These toxins are environmental, food, conventional medicine, and even our homes.

Below are a few of my favorite ways to detox in a holistic way:

1. Start a Mediation practice
• Taking time out for yourself is an important step to start your day. The mind is powerful so taking the time to breathe before you head into the day is great as it sets the tone and when you think back to your morning you will remember your meditation and remember to take a deep breath during those stressful situations that you may encounter during your day.
2. Water, water and more water
• Our bodies are made up of 60% water to add some detox benefits add some lemon to the water, lemon is alkalizing and helps get toxins out of the body as it helps to relieve constipation and improves digestion. Start your day off with a glass of warm water and lemon. And don’t forget to keep sipping throughout the day. Aim for a minimum of 2l per day.
3. Swap out your chemical cleaners for ones that are natural or better yet, make your own ;). Some vinegar and lemon juice or lemon essential oil is a great way to get started.
4. Buy organic, get to know the dirty dozen and clean 15
5. Eat more plants
• We enjoy plants around here and we are not saying you have to only eat plants but there are so many benefits to adopting a plant based diet that we wouldn’t want you to miss out.

Although I started this post talking about the new year these tips are ones that you can start to incorporate in your day to day to be more energized.
